Privacy Policy

Who this covers

This policy applies to the SoEdit app for iPhone and iPad, published by Weiming Chen ("we", "us"). It explains what happens to your information when you use the app — which, in short, is that it stays with you.

Information we collect

None. We do not collect, transmit, store, sell, or share any personal information. The app contains no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, no advertising, and no third-party tracking software of any kind. We cannot see your photos, your edits, or how you use the app.

Your photos

When you import a photo, the app asks your permission to read from your photo library. iOS controls that permission and you can change or revoke it at any time in Settings. The photo is copied into the app's own private storage on your device so that your edits do not alter the original in your library.

All image processing happens locally on your device using Apple's on-device frameworks. No image, thumbnail, or derivative is ever uploaded anywhere. The app works fully offline and makes no network requests.

When you export, the app asks permission to save to your photo library, or hands the file to the iOS share sheet. If you choose to send an exported photo to another app or service, that destination's own privacy policy then applies to the copy you sent.

What is stored on your device

The app keeps the following in its private container on your device:

• Copies of photos you imported for editing
• Your drafts and the ordered list of edits that make up each one
• Saved Recipes and Looks, and your most recent copied edits
• A short record of recent exports, so the app can show your recent work

This data is accessible only to the app, is covered by your device's encryption, and is deleted when you delete the app. It is included in your device backups if you back up your device, under whatever settings you have chosen for iCloud or local backups.

Permissions the app requests

• Photo library access — to let you choose a photo to edit. Declining simply means you edit the built-in sample image instead.
• Add to photo library — to save the photos you export. Declining means you can still export using the share sheet.

The app does not request access to your location, contacts, microphone, camera, health data, or any advertising identifier.

Children

SoEdit is suitable for all ages and collects no information from anyone, including children under 13. Because nothing is collected, there is nothing for a parent or guardian to request or delete from us.

Your rights

Privacy laws such as the GDPR and CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to return or erase. To remove everything the app has stored locally, delete the app from your device.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of the app changes how information is handled, we will update this page and the date above before that version ships. Material changes will be described plainly here rather than buried in a revision.
